Here's how the judging went. I stripped all of the poems submitted to the thread of the names of the authors and simply sent them in as numbered entries to the judge: Eileen Tabios.

I'm posting here the top two winning poets as well as the poems they sent in. Please pm me with your address and details so I can send you the prize.

First place goes to:

R.L. Copple for this poem:

Can You Hear What I Hear?

Silence
is loud
when God talks.

Angels
are amazed
when God acts.

We
are complete
when God rests.

God
is praised
when creation loves.

Second place was a tie between two poems, but they were both written by one poet:

Marcie Lynn Tentchoff wins with these two poems:

Near the light,
shadows linger,
lonely.

****

Raindrops,
liquid promise
on my tongue.

****

Congratulations to these two winners. Please send me your address details asap.

I'd also like to repeat here the call for submissions to the Second Hay(na)ku Anthology. If any of you poets are interested in submitting your work, please feel free to visit the Hay(na)ku blog for more information:

Eileen Tabios also has another blog at:

Mark Young's blog:

or

Jean Vengua's blog:

Mark Young and Jean Vengua will be editing and selecting the pieces for the second anthology.

Cool! I actually won something!

Cool

I hope this is the beginning of a trend, as I await June 5th.

Eileen also selected one of Keith's poems as a runner-up, but I don't have any more copies of the anthology to send out. Anyway, congratulations too to Keith, as Eileen felt she should mention your poem anyway Smile

The dragon flies
fiery, winged,
muse.

Free as air
free as
words.

Sprinkled
ash encrusted
sentences follow on.

Who
loosed this
dragon of poetry ?

Details are at: http://eileentabios.blogspot.com

I'd reccommend sending your dragon poem in as well as some others. I think you can send about five in a batch....which is the usual number.

Well, it took a year and a half, but I finally heard back from the anthology folk today. They are taking one of the poems I posted here originally.

They did apologize for the wait Smile
